As a little girl, my daughter Janette would climb into bed at night and say, "Mommy, tuck me up."
I would respond by gently snuggling her into the covers.
To this day, I often revert to her comforting ritual as I tuck myself up for a good night's sleep.

Don't Waste Your Breath
The words 'senility' and 'seniors' are often associated.
Truth is, senility is a progressive condition inherited from one's children.
The slippery slope of repeating ourselves to no avail starts earlier than we think.
Like so:
Like so:
Parent: "Who left the milk out?"
Child: (Silence)
Parent: "What happened to the side of the car?"
Child: "I don't know."
Parent: "Where is that smell coming from?"
Child: "What smell?"
Parent: "When did the curfew change?"
Child: "What curfew?"

Janette is Beautiful
Today a few family members got together for Janette's baby shower.
Her due date is May 27th . . . baby #3 is just days away!
Mike (retired pediatrician) says she has a good "affect."*
I just say she looks like an angel now. Maybe because she's MY baby.
*Translation of the word "affect": she's approaching the finish line with a healthy appearance, a smile on her face, and a reassured countenance.
Unlike a few months ago when she was hospitalized with a dreadful case of morning sickness.
Those who have suffered from this ghastly condition know it has no respect for segments of the day.

Coming Home
George and Barbara Bush say their life accomplishment is that their children still want to come home.
